Motions from February 4 Meeting

The Lancc passed motions regarding redistricting, adult education in the LAUSD, and beginning the planning for the next Congress of Neighborhoods:


2012 Congress of Neighborhoods:

We recommend that neighborhood councils communicate to DONE a request that it assist with a Congress of Neighborhoods in 2012.

(Note: The tentative scheduled date for the Congress would be on the fourth weekend of September.)

Adult Education:

Lancc requests that the Los Angeles Unified School District board and the LAUSD Superintendent support adult education, which is threatened with being completely defunded this year due to budgetary difficulties.

Redistricting:

Motion: Lancc disapproves of the current draft map for redistricting.

Motion:

Whereas the commission has drawn illogical boundaries and,

Whereas in some cases the commission has not recognized the wishes of individual neighborhood councils,

The commission should adopt the desires of neighborhood councils when determining communities of interest
